Best of Vinson

The Illyshian Jet just landed at Patriot Hills!
Martin, Serge, Micheal, Simon and Winslow in fromt on the twin otter before flying to Base Camp!

Summit ridge of Vinson! Sam, Uchida, and Tadaki making there way across!

Torres del Paine

Torres del Paine National Park here with glorious waterfalls. We were lucky to be able to go on a 3 day excursion to the park due to weather delays in flying onto the ice. Here is the Cascadia waterfall.

Los Cuernos (The Horns) Mountains below, near the southern tip of Chili.

The one hour plane ride from Patroit Hills to Vinson Base Camp in a twin otter was spectacular!

Another delay in Patriot Hills camp gave us a chance to climb this peak known as the Patriot Hills before flying into base camp.

Mt. Vinson a 16,160 foot peak that is the tallest on the continent. The weather was great and we had sucessful trips. Winslow guided two groups, and Todd lead three. We really enjoyed our groups.

To get to Antarctica, we went to the southern tip of Chili, Punta Areanas. THis is where the strait of Magellan is located. From here we took a Russian Illushian Jet, a 5 hour trip, to an area on the ice called Patriot Hills where there is a blue ice runway that is kept clear by large snow machine.
